Person Who Reached For Ariana Grande at Movie Premiere Prohibited from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who jumped across a fence and grabbed Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been deported and barred from Singapore.
The man, twenty-six, was given a sentence to nine days in jail for being a public nuisance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority told Singaporean press.
The man shoved past photographers and approached aggressively the actress and singer, who was present at the Asian debut for the film on the thirteenth of November. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.
He has a background of disrupting concerts and celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in the past June.
The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with several individuals claiming he of causing further distress to the star.
The celebrity has discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist bombing at her show in the UK city in several years ago resulted in the deaths of 22 people and affected hundreds.
In the legal process, the court heard he had tried to gain access on the film's premiere on two occasions, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a second attempt to jump the barricades. Event security prevented him and pinned him down.
The man subsequently shared videos expressing gratitude to the star for allowing his presence and said he was "released."
Law enforcement detained him the following day and charged him with causing a disturbance, to which he confessed.
The District Judge Christopher Goh was cited by a news outlet as saying that he was looking for publicity, adding that he was mistaken to assume he would not experience repercussions.
Grande has not addressed the situation.
The co-star discussed the event to a media outlet, remarking that she "simply desired to ensure my friend was secure."
"I believe he didn't mean us injury, but you cannot be certain with such situations, and I aimed to confirm that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she commented.
