Real Madrid's Alexander-Arnold Could Return to Face His Former Club in Forthcoming European Fixture

Trent Alexander-Arnold in action

Real Madrid acquired Trent Alexander-Arnold on a multi-year agreement

The defender's comeback is progressing according to plan, raising possibility that the Real Madrid right-back might be fit soon enough to confront his previous club Liverpool in November's Champions League match.

The English international suffered a muscle problem while playing against Ligue 1 club Marseille in the group stage of the competition on 16 September.

Alexander-Arnold had to leave the pitch in the fifth minute, with early reports pointing to a potential absence of as long as six weeks.

Real Madrid will travel to visit Liverpool on 4 November for the European fixture—just seven weeks after the incident took place.

Reports close to the situation indicate that the defender's comeback is moving along well, and there is expectation that Alexander-Arnold might make his initial appearance to Liverpool's stadium since moving to Los Blancos in June.

A longtime Liverpool supporter, Alexander-Arnold previously said that leaving the team he joined as a young youth talent was the "hardest choice he's ever taken."

During his time with the Reds, Alexander-Arnold made 354 games, contributing to secure two English top-flight championships, a Champions League, and the domestic cup.

Since moving to Madrid, Alexander-Arnold has featured five times across various tournaments, totaling over two and a half hours of action.
