The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season.

The twenty-seven-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.

A Year of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka finished the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and picked up a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.

She garnered almost 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Additional WTA Award Recipients

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking 13-month break following the birth of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
